cannot deregister temporary mobile number given before existing number moved across

I have just changed provider from O2 to Virgin mobile. I was issued a new SIM card and number whilst I waited for my old number to be transferred across. My imessage and facetime are still showing the temporary number. I have tried a number of different online solutions but cant seem to remove it. Any ideas? thanks

  1. Go to Settings > Messages and turn off iMessage.
  2. Go to Settings > FaceTime and turn off FaceTime.
  3. Restart your device.


Remove the temporary number from https://appleid.apple.com
