According to Apple, you save a movie, trailer, or clip on your Mac and then import it

into your Apple TV library. Then you can watch your movie in the

Apple TV app on your Mac.  Here are the steps

  1. Select a movie, trailer, or clip in the browser.
  2. Click the Share button in the toolbar, and then click File.
  3. In the dialog that appears, set the title and description of your movie, add tags, and more.
  4. Click Next, navigate to where you want to save the file, and then
  5. click Save. A progress indicator appears on the right side of the
  6. toolbar. Click the progress indicator to see details. The indicator
  7. disappears when the operation has finished, and the "Share Successful"
  8. notification appears.
  9. In the Apple TV app, choose File > Import, and then navigate to the location where you saved the file.
  10. Click Open.

Your video appears in the Home Videos section in the Apple TV app

Library. In the Apple TV app, you can add the movie to your other

devices such as Apple TV, iPad, iPhone, or iPod touch.

Thanks for this Rich.

i can now see my videos through the Apple TV app on the Mac after importing them as you suggested and they play fine.

However I’m struggling to view them both on my iPhone (where the videos seem to be there but don’t play) and on my 3rd generation Apple TV where Accessing TV message keeps rotating when I select library.

Am I missing a step in order to get the videos transferred over to my other devices? Media sharing via Home Shating option is already enabled on my Mac.
