I'm not sure it's worth the effort but if you have an iPhone or Watch, you can use it to confirm the payment when using Apple Pay on a Mac. See the "With other Mac models" section of How to use Apple Pay - Apple Support

Ahh, that told me how to find out what my card number, expiration date, and 3-digit code are, so I can treat it like a regular card.

I haven't had a desire to use it except at the Apple Store, but with the Apple Stores being closed, I would like to use it on-line to buy Apple products. (I strongly suspect I wouldn't get my Apple Discount using it to buy Apple Products at my local Mac Shack or Best Buy).

It would be nice if the next iMac had some kind of biometric sensor so I could use that card the way I use Apple Pay!
