Is there no longer an option to dowload a Mojave installer? Not to click on "open" to start installation but to download the installer. Is this no longer available? I want to be able to download the installer while I work on other things.

How to upgrade to macOS Mojave - Apple Support contains a link for downloading. When the download completes you can quit the installation when the download has completed.
Be sure to use Safari when you use that download link.
