How to restore iCloud data to new phone when old phone is lost

There are two kinds of iCloud data. Content synced to iCloud, and content backed up to iCloud. They are entirely separate processes, but you can use both at the same time.


To restore an iCloud backup to the new phone see this Apple support article—>Restore your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch from a backup - Apple Support


To sync iCloud data to the new phone go to Settings/[your name]/iCloud and turn on all of the switches. Any content that was synced to iCloud from the old phone will then sync to the new phone.


If you want to do both restore the backup first, because it overwrites everything on the phone.
