I just purchased an iPad Pro 12.9 4th generation and I am not sure what kind of cable I need to connect it to my MacBook Pro (Retina, 15-inch, Mid 2014) which has 2 lightening ports and two USB ports ... no USB-C port on the MacBook.

No MacBook has ever had a lightning connector ports.
I believe the Macbook you have will have two thunderbolt ports
