Running an old iMac. Do I install Catalina?

My iMac desktop is about 7 years old. Currently it runs on OS X Yosemite, version 10.10.5. I want to know if it is compatible with the newest operating system (Catalina) and if it is recommended to install Catalina? Thank you.

Catalina can be installed on iMacs 2012 or later. See compatibility information in: How to upgrade to macOS Catalina - Apple Support
