my macbook said no updates avalible

There are up-grades for your Mac to have newer version macOS; and

there aren't any additional 'up-dates' left, for the older-version system.

For better understanding of what's necessary, you should identify this

model build year and MacBook version, exactly; to best match its need.

Places to look in the Mac for more info, see "About This Mac" and note

those details where configuration and system specs are shown. Also in

"System Information" (see link within About This Mac) for all other specs.

We'd need to know a lot more before suggesting one path over another

to upgrade to newer (or latest?) system. The hardware has to be adequate.

Hi there, dena63. I suggest you check the App Store. Depending on how recent your MacBook is, you can update to El Capitan, Maybe Mojave, Perhaps Catalina, after checking out the system requirements for each OS
