application doesn't exist/verification failed

I tried to download an app (google sheets) and when my password failed it told me "this application you have selected does not exist." I didn't know what this meant so I attempted to change my password. After changing it, I tried again and it still wouldn't let me. After this, my phone was signed out of Apple ID. I tried to sign back in using any of the passwords I had changed it to but it always said "Verification Failed- The application you have selected does not exist." There isn't an application, I am trying to sign into my Apple ID. Please help. It is a fairly new phone too (about 3 days)
