I recently purchase a MBP 16 inch. When I plug it into an external monitor (same monitor i've used with other laptops) it is causing the fan of my MBP 16 to become very loud. Should the fan be working this hard with just an external monitor plugged into it?

Unfortunately we have been dealing with this issue since the MacBook Pro 16-inch was released 6 months ago, several macOS updates and the issue is still there.

The best you can do is call Apple support and report the problem to their engineers, if enough people call to report the problem the faster they will fix it (if it’s a software issue).

I'm afraid that's a known issue on the new MBPS. I have the same problem with my new MBP and guess there is nothing we can do than wait on a fix.

You are absolutely right. I had better performance on my 2012 Retina connected to two monitors. Very sad this problem was already mentioned in november and there is still no solution i'm aware of.
