resetting my bluetooth on Imac

I seem to be having some troubles with the bluetooth on my imac. I can't seem to use sidecar or connect ipad or iphone via bluetooth. In the online help, it suggests that I turn off the bluetooth and turn it back on again. The problem in doing so is that both my keyboard and my trackpad are bluetooth, so if I turn off the imac bluetooth, my only sources of input will both be disconnected. How will I then turn bluetooth back on again in order to "reset" it?

iMac 21.5″, macOS 10.15

First, reset the SMC. If that does not help:

then turn Bluetooth off. Restart the computer (force it to shutdown if necessary). The Bluetooth should be on again upon restart.
