Limited Edition Challenge Awards Apple Watch Updated, iPhone not at time of Challenge

I completed the World Environment Day “limited edition” challenge on my Apple Watch Series 5 after seeing the notification for it on the watch. The watch was updated with the latest software. Upon completion of the challenge, the award appeared in the awards tab on the watch but not on my paired iPhone 7. Upon further investigation, I noticed that the phone hadn’t been updated to (the latest iOS 13.5.1) so I completed the software update on the phone. Now the award badge has vanished from both devices. I tried turning off/on both devices while connected to WiFi. Same with bluetooth. Does Apple “take back” awards if BOTH devices weren’t up to date at the time the limited edition challenge was completed? Other options in attempting to retrieve the award? Thank you.
