64 bit and Epson Scanner

I have two iMacs each with different iOS:

a 27" with Catalina, on line to internet

a 21" with High Sierra 10.13.6, not attached to internet

I was unsuccesful installing a new Epson 600 Scanner on the 27" (64bit problem) and its accompanying software: SilverFast. I was unsuccessful installing it on the 21" because I couldn't register it via the web.

I had so many problems with SilverFast that I am through with them/it.

Q#1: Is the High Sierra a 64 bit OS like Catalina?

Q#2: If not, and if I were to re-connect the 21" High Sierra temporarily to the web, would that provide a successful installation of an Epson 500 or 550 without SilverFast?

Q#3: If that were successful, could I then disconnect from the internet and perform scans?

(Pls don't ask why I want to do this.)

Thanks for any assistance...........w

Yes High Sierra is 64 bit, but can run 32bit software.

All macs for over 10 years have been 64bit as has the OS's they run.

As for question 2 yes connecting the 21" to the internet would allow you to download the software

for the scanner.

You do not need to be connected to the internet to use the scanner.

Link for Epson V600 scanner downloads for High Sierra.

Make sure the operating system is set for High Sierra.

There is quite a few downloads under the drivers utilities and ICC profiles sections.

Surprised you don't like the Silverfast software, I used to use it many years ago, never used the Digital ICE though, that was cheating. Would do all the dust and scratch removal manuals thus preserving ll the fine detail.
