Itunes library and apple TV

Why is my music library on my AppleTV different from that on my Mac, Iphone and Ipad? Where does this library actually come from as a lot of songs are missing. I have read many articles with regard to Apple Music subscriptions but I do not wish to do that. I am unable to upgrade to Catalina on Mac as I still need to access the Microsoft Office versions that I have which become incompatible.

thanks

Hello BAlooney2000,

Thank you for using Apple Support Communities!

I understand from your post that you would like to know where the music comes from that is shown on your Apple TV. The following article will provide you with information about where the music comes from that you see on your Apple TV:

Library: Browse and play your music on Apple TV - Apple Support

"The Library screen in the Apple Music app  includes any Apple Music content and playlists you added, iTunes Store purchases and playlists you created, and music you make available through iTunes Match."

Best Regards.

Hi. I think you may have misunderstood me.

My itunes library contains all the music and I can play this on my Mac, Ipad and iphone with no problems. It is only the apple TV that has missing tunes/artists/playlists and that is why I wondered where the Apple TV music app gets my library as it is different. If I re-import the CD music it will simply create duplicates in my existing itunes library. Thanks

Hi. I have no problems with home sharing. I only have itunes library problems if I use the Apple Music App. The problem with sharing is I have to be logged in to my laptop otherwise the library isn't available to the AppleTV. If I do access music via sharing my music library is complete. Its like Apple music has its own incomplete version Of my library.
