Apps don’t stay open

Start here, If an app unexpectedly quits, stops responding, or won’t open - Apple Support

same here. Iphone X. iOS 13.6. Apps, especially YouTube, don’t stay open longer than a minute. For example, I play a YouTube video. Pause it. Lock the screen. I unlock the screen again after several moments, and I see... the home screen!! YouTube closed completely. When i open it again, it opens the home page of the YouTube app!! It’s ridiculous. Not sure if it’s youtube specific or my phone specific, but it’s kind of infuriating. 256gb or storage, no way to keep ONE app open all the time?

please help. Searched and found nothing that addresses or even mentions this.

How much Local (device) storage do you have free?

Check Settings -> General -> i[Device] Storage.

If your device doesn't have sufficient free space, it can become unstable.
