Not able to rename desktop file icons with Catalina..!

Struggling to love Catalina... lots of bug! Among them is an inability to simply rename desktop files (folder or file icons) on my desktop with two slow clicks. Nothing happens in most cases, though occasionally it has allowed me to edit. Has Apple changed this basic function?

Open System Preferences> Accessibility> Mouse & Trackpad> Double-click speed.

Experiment with different speeds till you find one that works for you.

Also highlight then Command-i on the item you want to rename,

the info panel will open and under Name & Extension you can type

in the new name.
