Safari panel

Since installing iPad OS 13.5.1 clicking an imbedded link in an email or news article results in a narrow Safari panel or window popping up on the same screen. I can move it around, but can’t re-size it. In prior versions, clicking on imbedded link would result in switching to the Safari App with a new full sized window. Is there any way to kill this feature?

To expand upon and amplify the video already provided by QuickPost...


You Slide-Over view enabled, this being a key feature of iPadOS.


The easiest way to switch from Slide Over to a full-screen window is to touch-and-hold the small drag-bar at the top of the Slide Over Window, drag to the top-centre of the screen - then release; this window will become full screen.


Here is an Apple video that demonstrates use of Slide Over:
