Pairing a PS4 DUALSHOCK-4 wireless controller with iPad Pro 11 2018 Not succeeding.

I followed instructions. I pushed the PS button and the share button together. Even this part is not so clear but I did get the DUALSHOCK 4 Wireless Controller to go from "other devices" to "My Devices".

However, it says "Not Connected".

If I push the item to try to connect it, I get a message, after the circle spins a bit, "Connection Unsuccessful - use the controls on Dualshock 4 Wireless Controller to connect".

If I press both the PS button and the share button, and then the item, I briefly see that the light on the controller gets solid and it briefly says "connected". But then it suddenly changes to Not Connected and the solid light on the controller goes off. I am not connected.

How can I connect to this device? I bought this controller to play games on my iPad pro however clearly the device currently is incapable of making a stable connection.

Something I'm doing wrong?

Thanks,

Jeff

I know I'm replying to myself but this solved the issue:

1- plug in the controller to the iPad using an external usb-c to a port

2- press both the PS and the share buttons

3- you now connect

4- (don't understand this step but it was a guess) at the same time, charge your controller - in my case since the port has another usb-c port i just charged the iPad and DualShock 4 controller "together"

5- When the DualShock 4 gets to 100%, remove the physical cord from it

6- It will stay connected. If you press the PS button for like 10 secs, it closes down. If you press the PS button again - you reconnect. It works fine

Note: Mine used the red color for some reason - not blue. I think it has to do with all the trials I tested, perhaps. I do not know how to change the color of it, but hey - at least it connects.

Ok - now I have an update -

1- When I got the controller (and if I reset it) nothing turns it on - i.e. pushing the PS button does nothing in the beginning as does pushing the PS+Share buttons simultaneously.

2- So - when I try to connect like using the PS4:

  • Connect to USB port of the iPad (this requires a USB-C to USB-A connector)
  • Press the PS + Share together

3- Then the controller connects to the iPad and it says connected.

4- IF I dare remove the controller from the USB port, the connection is lost. Please understand - I see the connection in the bluetooth section so the connection is apparently bluetooth (just like it is in the PS4, even when connected via wire)

How do I get it to work truly wirelessly? I want to work with it unplugged.

Thanks,

Jeff
