insert time and date in footer

Is there a way that I can Insert the current time and date into the footer each time I open the document. In excel, it would do this automatically. Hope there is a way to do this in numbers.

Hi Kathy,

No 'automatic' way, but you can Insert Date and Time using that item in the insert menu.

Page Headers and Footers are visible only in Print Setup mode, so if this is the Footer you want to time stamp, yu'll need to follow these steps:

On the first opening:

  • Open the document.
  • Press command-P to enter Print Setup mode.
  • Click the Footer box where you want the D&T stamp to select it and place the insertion point n that box.
  • Go Insert > Date ad Time

The current D&T will be placed in the box, but only the Date part will be displayed.

  • Click on the displayed date to open a format menu.
  • Choose the Date and Time display format at the bottom of the menu.
  • Click Done to return to edit mode or Print to print the document.

On subsequent openings:

  • Open the document.
  • Press command-P to go to Print setup mode.
  • Click the D&T in the footer box.
  • Click Set to Today
  • Refine the D&T display format, if desired.
  • Click Done (or Print).

Regards,

Barry

Note takes more time to read (and much more time to write) than to do.
