iMovie 10.1.14 - audio falling out of synch from video

When I synch a video clip to an audio clip in iMovie, the audio gradually falls out of synch. I have a two minute audio clip that for the first 30 seconds is in perfect synch. However gradually throughout the remaining video the audio falls out of synch to the point where it is completely obvious by the end of the clip.

Audio and video were recorded simultaneously. Any ideas what causes this to happen?

If the audio and video were recorded on different devices, even when simultaneously, there commonly are sync problems.

First use the slider above and to the right of the timeline to expand out the timeline. Then what you can try is to Control-click on the audio clip and, in the drop down menu that appears, click on Show Speed Editor. That will reveal a speed adjustment handle in the upper right hand corner of the clip. Sliding it to the left speeds up the clip. Sliding it to the right slows down the clip. You may be able to finitely adjust the speed of the audio clip to bring it in sync with the video. Possibly you might need to split the audio clip at different points and adjust each segment.
