ive broken my phone and am using an old 5 for a few weeks.
upon trying to pair with my watch it’s saying that my phone needs and update, the only options are to update or to cancel. If I select update iPhone it takes me to the update page where it shows me the phone is up to date. Any ideas on what to do? I use my watch so much so really don’t want to not use it.

An iphone 5 will only update to ios10 so if you're trying to pair to a watch with watchOS6 it's not going to happen.
A watch with watchOS6 requires a phone with ios13 or higher.
