MacBook suddenly opens a bunch of popups

The popups I have are right from the system, not advertising, etc. I'm talking every mode: Safari, Word, etc., you name it. Here is one of a couple dozen that I get almost every time I use my mouse. It's driving me crazy!

As I can see in your screenshot, Under Secondary click, the choice 'Click or tap with two fingers' is selected.

Click on the little arrow right to it and select 'click on right corner below'.

Does this solve the problem?

I cannot get online in Safe Mode so I cannot see if the popups went away. Not sure if you are a bot (apologies) but these are not standard "pop ups" as "uninvited" advertisements, etc. These seem to come from my Mac as the pop ups apply to the various links I tap on. "Links" may not be the correct word.
