A screenshot might help clarifying what you are trying to do.
Do you mean this?
The lighter area is the timeline selection. It is useful if you want to export only part of your timeline.
Drag the little indicators |> and <| above the timeline to change the selection.
this shot is the same motion clip dragged and dropped from favorites in motion into new project. you can see how long the clip is. the keyframes are all the way to the left.
the shot is of the timeline i'm trying to adjust. I need to drag it back to the last keyframe. i've notice in other projects it will show a right bracket when i hover over the end of timeline?
you can see length 42.18 in this screenshot. the animation is not much more than a few seconds.
You can easily set the start of anything in the timeline, either by dragging, or by selecting, moving the playhead and pressing I; and likewise, to set the end, using O.
So if I am understanding correctly, select the appropriate object in the timeline, move the playhead to the last keyframe, and press O.

The rectangle is selected.
The playhead is at the last keyframe set for Circle.
To have the rectangle end at the playhead, just press O:
Thanks Luis. Yes, I know thats the workaround :) I'm just baffeled as to why I can't make the timeline the same lenght as the animation? I'm guessing thats why it looks so long when dropped into new timeline. the clip when dropped into new timeline is the same 42 length as the original animation clip.
I get what your saying.
well that was easy.
thanks you for helping me out.
i'm obviously pretty new to this program.
