I need to purchase a external drive for mac mini 2009 to transfer files

I am purchasing a new Mac Mini and need to purchase an external drive to transfer files from my old 2009 one. Any suggestions on the type of external drive to buy?

Most any USB 2.0 external drive will easily connect and work with both year model Mac Mini's.

Seagate, WD, Samsung, LaCie, OWC, etc...

You can get and use faster USB 3.0 and USB-C external hard drive with the new Mac Mini, but keep in mind that your Late 2009 only has USB 2.0 ports.
