iphone touch screen problem

Suddenly certain parts of my touch screen are not working, so I am unable to enter my passcode, answer phone calls etc. Can this be repaired with a simple screen replacement?

try these steps first If your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch won't turn on or is frozen - Apple Support
