changing email address on a family member's phone

My daughter has a phone for non-cellular use (I didn't install the SIM, intentionally, she was only 9 years old). Now for her 10th BD, I installed the SIM. I am at the stage of trying to delete my email address and add her newly created email (icloud.com). However I cannot take my email off her iPhone (6S), nor can I add hers. I get the "Invalid Email" message when I try to add hers, but the her Apple Id was successfully set, including her email
