How do so stop my Macbook from sending imessages from my email address? I want them to send from my phone number.

You can't, unless you also have an iPhone using the same Apple ID.

When you opened Mac's Messages app, click the Messages menu
Then select Preferences... > select the Accounts tab > you phone number should listed see my previous post.
I do have an IPhone. I turned on the “text message forwarding” on my iphone, but when so open messages on my Macbook, I don’t see a preferences tab?
Open Messages, then under the Messages menu, select Preferences from the drop down menu or do a command- , (comma).
