I can't add new events to my icloud calendar on Mac, but they DO show up on my phone.
Why can't I add new events to my iCloud calendar on Mac? They DO show up on my iPhone, though...

May be Mac is not signed with Apple ID and password so cross check the settings to get it signed in https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT204053

If you create an event in iCloud.com https://support.apple.com/guide/icloud/create-events-mmfbbb32be/icloud
The same event will be reflected in Mac calendar application , when calendar account is configured then also an event can be created directly from Mac calendar application https://support.apple.com/en-in/guide/calendar/icalwr13-events/11.0/mac/10.15
And in your iPhone as you have signed a different Apple ID and password , set up iCloud https://support.apple.com/en-in/HT208681
And turned on calendar box https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT207689
