serial number

At Apple Trade-in, you have to enter your serial number to swap your device with a newer model. In my case, this a late 2015 27" iMac. However, the software says my serial number doesn't exist... what is the cause here?

I recently did a trade in, but fortunately mine went well, so I am familiar with the process. I suggest that you contact Apple care via chat and explain the problem. Then they can remotely connect to your computer (with your granting access) so as to confirm what your serial number is. They will be able to see it remotely. This should help you get a resolution. Good luck.
