Transferring data (early 2009 iMac to 2020 iMac)

What is the best way and fastest way to transfer data from an early 2009 iMac to a new 2020 iMac? Cables, adapters, wireless, etc..

The old one has the firewire connection. Could I piggy back that through the adapters up to a thunderbolt 3?

The fastest and easiest way is to connect the Time Machine backup drive from the old iMac up to your new iMac and Migrate from it during the initial setup.

If you do not have a backup for the old iMac, then Migrating with a direct Ethernet cable connection is better then Migrating via Wi-Fi.
