iMovie project not showing up on computers

iMovie projects do not sync with the Cloud.

To transfer to another computer a project that is still in editable form, as opposed to a shared out movie, the following procedure must be followed. iMovie projects must reside in an iMovie library. They cannot be transferred independenly. You must copy or transfer the library that contains the project. There are a couple of ways to do this. Easiest is to copy your project into a new library, transfer the library to a thumb drive that is formatted Mac OS Extended (Journaled) or APFS. Then you unplug the thumb drive from your MBP and plug it in to your iMac. Your iMac can than access the project. However, your iMac must be running the same exact version of iMovie that was used to create the project. Before transferring the project to the thumb drive, select the project in the project browser and do a File/Consolidate Project Media. That will insure that your project will carry over all of the media used to create it.

You just transfer the thumb drive back and forth. So, when you work on each computer you are working in the library on the thumb drive. Then you unplug the thumb drive from one computer and plug it into the other computer. You are always working in the same library. the one on the thumb drive. So there is no backing up to do. The thumb drive library always remains on the thumb drive.

When you transfer it back and forth always good to do a File/Consolidate Library Media to make sure that you carry over any new media that you may have added. Usually there will be no media to consolidate.
