The application "" can't be opened

I have tried opening a not verified app on my mac but the message "The application "" can't be opened" keeps coming up. I know it's a safe app, but the option to "open it up anyways" in Security and Privacy of System Preferences doesn't come up. What can I do to open said app?

Also, when I click the little question mark symbol in the bottom-left corner of the "The application "" can't be opened" message, it doesn't load anything.

You need only do the following once:

Control-click the application in the Finder, and from the contextual menu choose Open.

You will notice that you still vet an alert but this one has an Open button. Click it.

From then on just open the application in any usual way and it will work.
