How do I return my MacBook Air to factory settings. I got a new one and am giving my daughter my old one.

Hello!

Restoring a MacBook to factory settings is a lot more complicated than an iPhone or iPad, but I can help you get though it.


  • Firstly start it in recovery mode (Cmd+ R),
  • Go into disk utility and erase Macintosh HD (or anything you named it)
  • Finally back to the recovery menu and press re-install macOS
  • Follow the instructions until the mac restarts
