Upgrading to newer OS

My iMac is a mid-2011 model which currently runs on macOS sierra. Can I upgrade to a newer OS, if so, which one? Will this be compatible with the latest 365 office software? Thanks.

iMac 21.5″, macOS 10.12

The last OS for a mid-2011 iMac is High Sierra (10.13). See instructions in How to upgrade to macOS High Sierra - Apple Support

That is still supported for Microsoft 365 (new name for Office 365). See: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/office/microsoft-os-requirements-for-office-2019-for-mac-and-microsoft-365-for-mac-16b8414f-08ec-4b24-8c91-10a918f649f8
