Go to setting- general- storage and check if the OTHERS occupy most of your storage. If you have that issue, please refer to this link

It's been 3 years I am trying to solve this problem. Contacted Apple support a lot of times, searched a lot on web, still couldn't solve this problem. A lot of mental suffering. Apple costumer support is pathetic.

Mjmalabed - I upgraded to IOS14 but still have a large space used by "Other". Are you suggesting that the IOS update should reduce it? Is there a way to adjust that space?

I would buy a new phone with 128GB on it than 16GB the iphone 6s is old so when apple made they did not know to make better storage in 2015. I would say for you to get a new phone.
