I am not very techy. I have an iPhone XR with 13.6.1.

My warranty expires in Oct 28 2020.

I read a new phone is coming out and that the current or latest now is the SE or 11.

When the new phone comes out will I still get security updates?

When will they stop? I saw a video on YouTube that said when 14 comes out support for my older phone will stop. Dd they mean the OS or the phone name?

I guess I am asking how long my XR will be supported because the updates and patches is why I bought an iPhone over an Android. I am elderly and only buy when security is an issue.

Yes, Apple has a very good track record of providing iOS updates for years after an iPhone is released. The iPhone 5s for instance was supported through 6 releases of iOS from iOS 7 to iOS 12 from 2013 to 2018.

iPhone XR is supported on iOS 14 and should remain supported on future versions of iOS for several years (based on the past, we can estimate support for at least 2 more years).
