Relocating Logic Pro X Sound Library

I have a 2 TB external hard drive and am trying to relocate the sound library onto it. When I choose that function in the Logic Pro X dropdown menu, it greys out both options of my Macbook Hard drive, 9which is to full), and my External Hard Drive, even though I have plenty of room on my external hard drive for the sound library. Remedies?

MacBook Pro 13″, macOS 10.13

Format of Hard Drive: Mac OS Extended (Journaled)

Time Machine: It is labeled in Relocate Sound Library pop out box as, "Time Machine back up drive."

Exact wording: Please select where the sound library content will be installed. The existing installation will be moved to the new location (4.36 GB).

Macbook Pro: Free space - 1.67 GB - Current sound library files location

My Hard Drive: Free space - 1.69 TB - Time machine back up drive

Is it a backup of your computer? If so it is not wise to "remove" it. Do you have another drive?

I notice you're very low on free space on the local drive. Depending on the size of the drive you'll need to free up space more than just relocating the Sound Library.

I keep all of my important files in a google drive, or a manually put them onto my External Hard Drive. It is not an extensive backup of my entire system. I do not have another drive.

I use my laptop for finale, logic pro x and other musical recordings almost exclusively, so getting my full sound library functioning is the aspect most pressing for me currently.

I have purchased a new Macbook Pro that will be arriving this week. Would you suggest putting the sound library on that hard drive instead?

OK.

If you can afford to not have a Time Machine backup: Be sure Time Machine is deactivated on your computer and remove or rename the backup on the external drive.

The new MacBook is another issue. You will have to re-download the Library. Sharing the Library between computers is not supported.

Note: Avoid to put Logic projects on something like Google Drive unless you archive (ZIP) them before.
