Fried Mac mini hard drive as in won’t start and update runs into error and won’t load.
How can I reformat drive and install a new system. Not able to with utilities. 2012 Mac Mini

- I hope you have a up-to-date TimeMachine backup.
- You can not use disk utility, while in MacOS environment, to erase the OS disk
Optional - if you want to re-install MacOS later - you can use internet recovery or "making a USB boot drive"
In order to erase hard drive -- you have to boot into Recovery Mode.
From there, you can use Disk Utility to erase the disk
