macbook air 2015 and macbook pro 2018 dual display

How can I set up a dual display with a MacBook Air 2015 and a MacBook Pro 2018? I bought both the usb c thunderbolt adapter and the thunderbolt 2 cable but I can't figure it out. Any help would be great.

You cannot use either of those machines as a monitor for the other. Notebooks cannot be used as displays. That is reserved to certain iMac models from 2009 through 2014. None of the iMacs can be used as displays for Mac notebooks from 2019 and later.
