liquid detected in the lightning connector

i did not drop my phone in water, but i'm getting this message when i try to charge my phone. how to i fix this so there isn't moisture in my charger port? it says "charging is not available because liquid has been detected in he lightning connector. disconnect to allow connector to dry."
