Yes, an iMac 27" running 10.13.6 since yesterday.
TC was probably reset by previous user to factory settings. I reset it (5sec) just to be able to create a new password.
Both TC name and password had 10+ char's. Thanks for the tip: I'll won't do that again...

Apple does not release a list of errors but mostly osstatus for something on the network will be network issue.
Just checking your profile shows iMac 27" running 10.13 i.e. High Sierra. Is that still the case?
Did you reset the TC to factory? What were you doing when the error came up?
I would go through the process again. Reset the TC to factory.. no files on the hard disk are lost.
Use Airport Utility to give the TC a new name.. use very short names, no spaces and pure alphanumerics. tc3tb for example.
Create new password that follows same rules but 8-20characters.
Once the TC is configured tell us what happens.
We need to know a lot more about the network setup to help further and screenshot from airport utility of the TC setup helps no end.
Solved: just as you suggested gave TC a new name and password. Short and alphanumerical.
