When I try to open Photos, a box saying "closing the library" appears on my MacBook Pro screen. What do I do?

In trying to open Photos, a box appears in the middle of the MacBook screen saying "closing the library" and my photos will not load. What do I do?

Try to reboot, then press Option-key while opening the Photos library and navigate to the desired library. If that fails, try to rebuild the library.
