My Apple Mail client won't connect my email accounts

My Apple Mail client won't connect my email accounts (mac.com or gmail.com) to receive or send mail. I am using the latest Catalina 10.15.6 OS. I receive a Connection Failed error message.

Did you change their passwords lately?


Are you running any VPN, Anti-Virus, or Cleaning apps?


In Mail's Window Menu, choose Connection Doctor, any red dots for status, if so what is the message?


Then click the Show Details button & Check again.
