I read that the new software update for iPad was supposed to be available today. However I have not gotten notification to be able to update the software on my iPad. I have the iPad Air third generation.
Is it actually available today?

According to how Apple has chosen to release/distribute this update, you may not see it for awhile.
No one here really can say when...but when it's available to you, that's when you will see it.

If can’t yet see the update, it likely won’t be long before your do. The iPadOS14 update does appear to be rolling out.
