How do I keep attachments to emails from embedding

Using a mac with Catalina 10.15.6 (and zsh) - when I send emails with pdf attachments they are received as embedded files which makes it hard for the receiver to follow. I send them as icons but when the other person gets them it's all jumbled together. I've sent the messages to myself so I know. Compressing the file works but that's just too awkward for the receiver.

You can't control what your recipient's email client decides to do with the message.

If they are using Outlook, best you can do for them is:

Send Windows friendly attachments

Insert Attachments at end of message

and send as Plain Text.
