iCloud backup with iMessages

Hello. Is there a way to select iMessages to be backed up without having to set up two way Authenticator?

iPhone 8 Plus, iOS 14

If using messages in iCloud -- Keep all your messages in iCloud - Apple Support, then your messages are not considered a part of the backup. I am unfamiliar with what a "two way authenticator" is.
