Is there a way to change the calendar back to the monthly view instead of having to scroll through everything as iOS update 14.0.1?

try to force reboot your device (Force reboot device - Apple Support)
Yes, that is how it used to work before I update to iOS 14.0.1. Now that feature does not work🤨🧐😢
Just click on back on the top left corner. It may show as September (or the current month) to show month view.
a forced restart did not help
try going to settings>general>reset>and reset all settings.
