Safari Keeps Deleting all history automatically

I asked to delete the history about a week ago (now every time I open it) , my history isn't being saved.

Safari->Preferences->General->review the setting for “Remove history items:” Try changing the setting then changing it back to what you want. Sometimes that will jumpstart the function.

Safari 15 recent history not showing I always found the ability to click on History and scroll through your recent pages very useful. In Safari 15 this has disappeared and you have to open the 'Show All History' window. Also, the 'Recently Closed' option seems to be permanently greyed out. Any way to get this back?
