Old time machine backup disks

How can I delete old time machine backup disks I no longer have from my mac. I get notifications saying my mac has not backed up to an old disk even though it backs up to the new one.

MacBook Pro 13″, macOS 10.14

You can remove that disk from Time Machine.

Select the Time Machine icon in your Mac's menu bar, then Open Time Machine Preferences...

Scroll down to and select Add or Remove Backup Disk...

Select the backup disk you want to remove from Time Machine, then Remove Disk, then Stop Using This Disk.
