We accidentally erased our hard drive on the iMac and we can’t figure out how to reinstall the operating system. Please help.

Ok the apple logo came up and a bar below the logo was filling up and it just stopped after it filled up. Should I wait or keep trying different options to get the macOS utility to appear?
If it doesn't move, then you may need to connect it directly to your Router with a Ethernet cable and use a USB keyboard.
